Apple iPhone's Missing Pieces

Although the first reviews of the Apple (AAPL) iPhone were glowing (see links here and Josh Quittner's review of the reviewers here), all agreed that there were features that were either missing or not quite up to snuff.
Not to fear. If past behavior is any guide, Steve Jobs is likely to start filling in those missing pieces, one at a time, in a series of press releases and software updates carefully timed to garner maximum publicity and drive further sales. Look at the flurry of iPhone news in the weeks and days before the launch: YouTube videos, "improved" battery life, a 25 minute tutorial, the cheapest wireless plan on the market and generous reviews from hand-picked journalists timed for simultaneous release three days before the device goes on the market. Because he owns the whole box -- hardware and software -- and he can count on a few hundred reporters and bloggers to broadcast every minutia of iPhone news, Jobs can send new goodies down the pipeline whenever he feels his baby needs another jolt of media buzz.
So what's missing from the iPhone in its current configuration? Let's see...
  1. No instant messaging
  2. No way to IM pictures, videos, sounds (i.e. no MMS)
  3. Can't cut and paste
  4. Can't edit or save Word, Excel, PDF documents
  5. Camera can't record video
  6. Can't play Web pages with Flash
  7. No access to iTunes Music Store
  8. No games
  9. No way to download contacts from old phones
  10. Can't turn contact lists into e-mail distribution lists
  11. Can't turn iPod songs into ring tones
  12. No way to search phone book or song lists
  13. No voice dialing
  14. No quick way to move up or down pages
  15. Not clear if there is support for Microsoft Exchange
  16. No other carrier except AT&T Wireless
  17. No AT&T Wireless insurance
  18. No way to change SIM card or battery except through Apple
  19. No GPS or real-time navigation system
  20. No access to a fast, 3G network (for that you'll have to wait for iPhone 2.0)
That's all we've got for now. Feel free to add to the wish list. (With thanks to those who have already done so.)

Am I a chauvinist? I'm writing....

Am I a chauvinist? I’m writing…
The world consists of men who are good, the peace-robbers and the bad men. God created them (guess who?) for great companionship, support and to guide. But they don’t seem to be so. They are bad in understanding; need our support rather and very problematic. You know whom I’m talking about. They are the still-to-be-better-half of the homosapien species. I wonder how men co-exist with them. While the men in the form of kings and emperors ruled the world, they have ruled men. Yet I still fail to discern what is that they want from their inglorious counterparts. Men, agreed are intimidating, atrocious in exercising their power over the weaker (or stronger!) sex, oglers, mean, rude and finally approach to marriage for best-known physical reasons. Mind that I didn’t start the previous sentence with “so what if ”and also I’m not for outright defense for the male species, rather I’m just making an attempt to understand why there always exist this universal, mutual disagreement and a state of being where these two are always out of control of each other.
Exceptions to these make it to becoming amazing friends, wonderful lovers and of course the perfectionist sons and brothers. What about the remaining 98% of the poor, hopeless crowd? What is their consolation? Consider the following scene: A baby boy is born. The parents feel relieved. They see him as a boon. A hope. A prospective wealth-accumulator or at least a breadwinner. He is their redeemer from all grievances: ill health and ill wealth. He is glorified, adored and hailed for his XY chromosome while the baby boy doesn’t know what’s going on. As he grows up he visibly sees the discrimination between him and his sister. He sees his and his father’s eligibilities and society-tradition bestowed privileges. He silently accepts it. He is made to accept. The boy becomes man and allegedly terrorizes. His parents obviously played a crucial role. His parents were like that because one of them, the XY fellow, had similar treatment when he was born and so on. But times have changed now. Misconceptions are fast evaporating. People are now increasingly literate and awareness is spreading. Yet the ill-gotten legacy remains.
Loyalists for the no-education-for-girl policies and men-o-superio still exist. The society is very much confused and yet adamant in following certain half-baked traditions. Instead of Vinoba Bhave role model we have Gladrags super models. Though orphaned, destitute and innocent young girls were, are forced into organized adult entertainment, not all girls who pose promiscuously before lenses were driven by poverty and unemployment! They are the would be miss galaxies, the scantily dressed babes who display nothing but knowledge on stages, the chosen few who know the short cut to stardom in the tinsel world, the selfless volunteers who allow themselves to be even stripped, for money and fame (sorry. read: for the service of arts.) with lot of them turning in each day, our ‘men’ are too good in taking care of (exploiting) them. These aspirants knowingly or unknowingly (under the guidance of ‘experienced men’) are behind the rampant generation of a young men crowd with cheap taste, prurient attitude and lusty looks. Though they have been there for generations, thanks to media, they are everywhere around us now.
What women wear matters men most. Obscene and provoking outfits are dubbed as fashion savvy and style! Though men can also be vice-versa blamed, the crowd of women who make men leer devouringly is far far greater than the percentage of provokingly dressed biceps-revealing-tight-dressed-guys. You don’t find quite often visibly more obscene dressed men in count comparative to women. Men constantly cultivating their disgraceful appetite for physical pleasure have grown up into psychos, serial killers, distressed and violent head of the families. Most of these would surely have had bad childhood. I guess if the mother and the peer pressure factors are well set, then we would have less of dangerous and more of understanding men.
With so much to go, I don’t understand why guys are always the one to be blamed. They are just a part of a big legacy they unknowingly inherited. While some of them understand this and make a difference for their life partners while a majority of them don’t. Yet every man gets his share of lashes from the man-hating (read man-eating) crowd. Prejudiced, blasted, and not heeded just for the sake of being an XY fellow. Women are becoming increasingly self-centered. Injustices and ill treatment is constantly in their minds so that they fail to acknowledge genuine efforts of a few good men. Mothers have greater roles now to help boys eliminate these uncomfortable differences with girls. Teachers have the greatest role to imbibe virtues into boys that affect gender relations. Men would be better with good social atmosphere, of course with appropriate restraints. Off late I have observed something that I guess my community would agree. “Girls often ignore or never come to know or reject guys who love or care for them a lot”. For a majority of men love’s labor is lost! Shall I tell you an age-old truth? “ Women will never understand the love of men”. Never. Never Ever.

Linkin Park - What I've Done

Here's the video for the new song "What I've done" from their latest album "Minutes to Midnight"

Linkin Park - Minutes to Midnight - Released

Linkin Park's third album, Minutes to Midnight, is their first in 4 years. The album is due out May 15th, but you can catch their first single, What I've Done, online now.
The album title is a reference to the Doomsday Clock, a clock created in 1947 by scientists from the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists at the University of Chicago. It's purpose is to portray how close (in imaginary "minutes") the world is to nuclear destruction ("midnight"). The clock's hand was originally set to seven minutes to midnight (11:53) at the start of the Cold War in 1947, and has been pushed forward or reversed several times since then. It currently stands at five minutes to midnight (11:55). History lessons aside, Mike Shinoda has commented about the title, saying "don't take that at face value. there are layers of meaning, most are metaphoric." and "It's definitely a reference to the doomsday clock 'the Apocalypse' metaphor for death and rebirth, but it could also be applied to the music industry, sort of tongue-in-cheek."
Tracklist:
01. Wake
02. Given Up
03. Leave Out All The Rest
04. Bleed It Out
05. Shadow Of The Day
06. What I've Done
07. Hands Held High
08. No More Sorrow
09. Valentine's Day
10. In Between
11. In Pieces
12. The Little Things Give You Away
Songs in bold are really worth the download.

As for the rest of the songs in this album, i would say, its not such a welcome change, to hear the new LP. For me, I am back to listening my favourite "Hybrid Theory" all over again.
An interesting excerpt from the article has Chester saying
"We knew that we were gonna lose some fans with this record. It's not music you can work out to. There are people out there that only listen to Linkin Park because they love working out to our songs, but they don't even know what the songs are about. I mean, that's cool, thanks for your support. But this is not the record for you."
Heres a review of the album, of one of such fan, who begs to differ with the media hype, and an all good shining feeling that the media has cooked up for this album :
The problem here is that inorder to become the "new" Linkin Park, these guys just started copying U2, Nirvana, Coldplay, and yeah, oddly enough, the "old" Linkin Park minus the urgency and rage. I dig a change up but when it sacrifices your bands entire edge and nitche COMPLETELY, it may be time to scrap the project and give it a new name all together. Now, if you can get past the idea that Linkin Park are mearly actors playing all these other bands under the name Linkin Park, some of the songs are alright. Also, why marginalize Shinoda? He pretty much kept Linkin Park on peoples minds with Fort Minor? But his involvement in Linkin Park aided Fort Minor... to make it more clear it's like one hand washing the other, but not anymore. The trade off between Chester and Mike is gone, and so is the excitement, urgency, and edge. Finally, does the Asian DJ even do anything anymore? Nice try fella's but it just kinda comes down to: Why listen to Linkin Park anymore?
What your say on this?

Nokia N73- Clone - nokiR 828

This clone of the N73 is called the 'Nokir 828'. It looks almost the same as the N73. It features a 2 mega pixel camera and a 2.6 inch touchscreen. I am sure you have guessed that this clone originated from China. This clone costs only 100$ - INR 4200.

Nokia is suing every single shop in Hong Kong that is selling this phone.

nckia N95 - FakeS @CHINA

found another Nokia N95 clone. It is a candybar design like the first wave of N95 clones (First clone and 5 mega pixel clone). Unlike the other clones, this one is black. It features: - 3.4 inch 260k QVGA touchscreen - 4 supersonic bass (whatever that means...) speakers on the back - 2 mega pixel camera - microSD support - 900/1800 networks - measures 134x62x17 mm - weighs 150 grams - supports 2 sim cards (phone has two sim card slots) - comes with 1150mAh battery The phone is called Nckia N95. I guess this is the latest trend to replace the "o" with "c" like the Scny Ericsscn Z610.

Pepsi Blue Billion Campaign

The Blue Billion campaign undertaken by Mudra Communications for Pepsi, was a hit with the masses.
A branded train that carried 400 cricket fans from Delhi to Jaipur for the India vs. England match held in Jaipur.
The Brand ambassadors - Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra, travelled in the Blue Billion Express cheering for Team India along with the 400 odd winners of the Blue Billion Contest.
This is just a small promotion campaign for the soft drink giant.
Now that the World Cup is over and India was out way before the excitement caught up; Guess whats on the minds of the Blue Billion Campaign Producers>?

Guerilla Advertising Is In

The Future Group (Kishore Biyani) has just unveiled a mint-fresh aggressive campaign that has grabbed eyeballs galore, but at the same time made competition squirming in discomfort. The new ad campaign for Future Group's hypermarket chain Big Bazaar screams quite a few cheeky lines; such as: Change Your Lifestyle. Make a smart choice! Formal shirts Rs........ Keep West-aSide. Make a smart choice! T shirts Rs....... Shoppers! Stop. Make a smart choice! It doesn’t take a long time for one to get that Lifestyle Retail, Westside and Shoppers' Stop are the three major competitors for the Future Group. The campaign which was unveiled just last weekend, costs approximately Rs 2 crore-plus, and has been conceptualized by Mudra Communications. As of now, these ads will run only in outdoor and in-store media. The campaign has made the competition very uncomfortable because they somehow feel “the ads make a subtle reference to them”. Lifestyle Retail says that they have had an in-depth look at the impact of this campaign on their own business and that they will initiate an informal conversation with the Future Group on the issue. If need be, they might even approach the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI).Shoppers' Stop officials refused to comment on the issue. The Future Group is surprised by this entire hullabaloo. “Since we have not made any references to any competitors, we do not want to make any claim that this will impact/or not impact our competitor's customers. Big Bazaar is a very large format which spans various kinds of audiences. Consumers are already noticing the campaign and first cut response is very encouraging,” Mr Rajan Malhotra, CEO, Big Bazaar, told ET. Big Bazaar maintains that the key idea behind this campaign is to showcase the new summer collection at great pricing that Big Bazaar has just launched.

Say Cheese... with Wrigleys

Nothing works better than an ad in your face. These cute but scary stickers from Wrigley's chewing gum were placed at the base of Starbucks disposable coffee cups. The beauty of their effect is that they can only be seen when the coffee drinker is swigging away at full sip.

Hows this for Mumbai ? Save water/electricity Campaign

With water restrictions happening around the world, the clever folk at Sukle agency dreamt up this inventive ad campaign for Denver Water to encourage people to become more aware of their water usage. We love the unique applications - certainly more effective than your standard print ads.

Supermarket cart - charity awareness

This action consisted of three different child faces of ethnic backgrounds: Asian, Black and Indian. The mouth had an opening just where the coin to release the supermarket cart is inserted. Each coin would symbolically feed a child. Under the image, it says " You can feed a child for two days with what you spend renting this cart. HELP

RED CROSS mobile billboard

Nothing grabs an audience's attention more effectively than a clever optical illusion. Combine that with an ingenious ad campaign and you get this brilliant mobile billboard for The Red Cross, currently gracing the streets of San Francisco. It's photo journalism, meets Hollywood blockbuster movie poster, and it is turning plenty of heads wherever it parks itself. Enthusiastic onlookers have been snapping up photos of the mobile billboard and posting, uploading and sharing them online with friends. This is a brilliant example of how an audience can further promote the exposure of a great advertising campaign through mobile phones, blogs and sites such as flicker
